The fast curing epoxy metal filler 3M™ FC is suitable for filling deeper dents in all metal substrates (steel, aluminium...), shaping and modelling surface structures, and protecting weld seams from corrosion.
This fast curing epoxy metal filler is suitable for repairing damage to metal surfaces of car parts, such as dents, changes in surface shape, or fully sealing welds to ensure protection against corrosion. The 3M™ FC epoxy metal filler has a unique formula, is lead-free, contains 100% solids, and therefore does not shrink during curing. It exhibits excellent adhesion and anti-corrosion properties. With an open time of approximately 15-20 minutes and a curing time of about 2 hours at 22°C, the 3M™ FC epoxy metal filler allows for quick processes in the body shop. Further acceleration of curing is also possible through IR drying. Any tin soldering process still in use can be easily replaced by using the 3M™ FC epoxy metal filler to avoid any heat build-up in the process, which is crucial for some modern automotive materials, such as high strength, thin steels, composites, etc. Open flame is no longer needed, and heat-sensitive car parts do not need to be removed, as products can be fully applied and cured at room temperature. Once the material is cured, it can be easily sanded and proceed to the normal paint application process – manufacturer's paint guidelines should be followed.
