Brush for honing
After some time of using the caliper, it may become necessary to replace the (rubber) guide bushings in ATE brake calipers. The mounting holes in the bushing housing are often more or less corroded. This causes the guide bushing to jam, which in turn blocks the guide pins. Such a caliper cannot move freely and causes increasingly serious brake problems.
After removing the old guide sleeves, we grind the mounting holes in the caliper with an ATE honing brush until metallic cleanliness is achieved. A drill driver with a maximum speed of 500 rpm, clockwise (right-hand rotation), is well suited for this task. After cleaning the holes in the caliper housing, they should be coated with a thin layer of ATE Plastilube. This prevents corrosion and facilitates the installation of guide sleeves.
Tip:
Note: Never lubricate the inside of the guide sleeves or guide pins! These sliding surfaces must remain dry!
Safety tip:
- Maximum rotational speed: 500 rpm
- Drive only to the right (clockwise direction)
