Connections of wires and flexible hoses are secured with clamp bands. These are steel bands that are mounted and removed using special pliers. The clamp is tightened by crimping the protruding ear of the band, thereby reducing its diameter. The band should be selected according to the diameter of the connection, as its adjustment usually does not exceed a few millimetres. The bands ensure the tightness of the secured connections. Flexible hoses soften and expand under the influence of temperature, which can cause leakage, for example, in a heated engine cooling system, leading to coolant leakage and engine overheating. Similarly, even a properly secured connection can leak if the clamping band is corroded. Corrosion causes weakening and breaking of the bands. Application: for joints and rubber connectors.
