Clamping collars are used to secure connections of hoses and flexible pipes. These are steel bands that are mounted and removed using special pliers. The collar is tightened by crimping the protruding ear of the collar, thereby reducing its diameter. The collar should be selected according to the diameter of the connection, as its adjustment usually does not exceed a few millimetres. The collars ensure the tightness of the secured connections. Flexible hoses soften and expand under the influence of temperature, which can cause leaks, for example, in a heated engine cooling system, leading to coolant leakage and engine overheating. Similarly, even a properly secured connection with a collar can leak if the clamping collar is corroded. Corrosion causes weakening and breaking of the collars. Application: for joints and rubber connectors.
