The Rottler SM surface finishing machine is the answer to the need to increase efficiency and boost profits for workshops dealing with petrol and diesel engines. Two models of these devices are available, designed to meet the needs of teams preparing cars for racing, performing overhauls of heavy-duty diesel engines, workshops dealing with overhauls of large engines used in factory equipment, and small workshops often employing only one person.

 

All SM devices use the same equipment and mounting system to enable quick and secure attachment of parts and tools and ensure versatility. Precise finishing of machined surfaces is possible thanks to variable rotational speeds and variable feeds - both options are available as standard equipment.

CHARACTERISTIC FEATURES AND DEVICE CAPABILITIES

Exceptionally durable heavy-duty spindle - for mounting CBN and PCD equipment. The large diameter steel, chrome-plated spindle uses triple angular contact bearings, ensuring that the device will achieve the desired quality of finished surfaces for many years.

Smaller workshop floor area - compact, one-piece castings and multi-layer guides make these the most compact surface finishing devices available on the market today.

 

Super precise surface finishing - a belt-driven ball screw and infinitely variable speed and feed of the device allow surface finishing to standards from 2Ra to 6Ra, required in today's multi-layer steel MLS head gaskets.

 

Dry grinding system - eliminates the need for coolant and makes cleaning a breeze! The cutting head cover directly directs dust and chips to the optionally available vacuum system.

 

Return to starting position (to vertical) - the working head always returns to the vertical position and is ready for the next pass.

 

State-of-the-art device control technologies - the most modern and best electronic control system, operating in a closed-loop system, makes Rottler devices the most technologically advanced surface finishing devices available on the market today.

 

Protection and durability - multi-layer steel guide covers protect them and ensure exceptional durability.

 

Short processing time - heads can be ground in less than 2 minutes, and a pair of wedge heads for a V8 engine can be finished in less than 8 minutes.

 

Versatility - these devices can handle large diesel engine heads, such as CAT3406 and 3412, and engine blocks such as Detroit V71 or Mercedes OM440.

 

T-slot base - a flat, massive body made from a single element according to the Mehanite procedure, with T-slots allowing the attachment of any equipment and performing any work - lifts and holders can be mounted anywhere!
