The new SG8MTS MANUALMATIC – the machine is equipped with a touch screen as a control panel.
SG8MTS uses the same proven solid carbide pilots and tooling as the SG8M, now with a steering wheel mounted at the front for spindle control.
The device has two operating modes:
MANUAL – the buttons on the touch screen are the same as in previous SGM machines.
There are no external measuring instruments, the vertical position of the spindle is displayed on the touch screen. After lowering the spindle until the cutting insert touches the valve seat, then press on the touch screen to set the zero position.
The digital display will show exactly the position of the spindle. The spindle speed adjustment from low to high speeds is stepless to achieve better final quality. This is done via two separate buttons on the touch screen. The spindle head cushion control pedal has been eliminated and replaced with a button on the touch screen in modes: manual and automatic for MANUALMATIC.
MANUALMATIC – a new concept has been added to these machines, which should increase efficiency by 30-50%. During seat machining, the operator does not need to operate any buttons and switches, just engage the spindle feed of the steering wheel up and down, and control is done with all spindle head functions: clamping, centering the pilot in the valve guide and spindle. When the seat depth is reached, the spindle speed control automatically changes to high speed to achieve the same seat depths in the cylinder and consistent surface finish results.

CAPABILITIES
Concentricity – Precise centering. Rottler thanks to very hard pilots, which are made from fine-grained carbides. Combined with the SG8 MTS working head air cushion, it provides excellent centering in the valve guide and the best coaxiality among machines on the market.
Cabinet – four drawers and a handy "Top Tray" upper shelf allow convenient and clear storage of a wide range of tools available from Rottler.
360-degree head clamping rotation ensures quick and secure head clamping and easy and quick access to all sides of the machined head. The valve guide vertical is quickly set using the Micro Adjust function. Table clamping provides extremely accurate coaxiality of the guide and spindle.
Multi Angle Seat Cutting – Rottler Precision CNC – Multi-angle carbide cutting inserts are available in many different versions tailored to customer needs. Inserts with single angles, multi-angles, and radii are available. This cutting tool solution makes machining faster and cheaper than grinding, which requires different grinding stones for each angle.
Machine Construction – rigid and heavy cast iron machine castings guarantee machining precision during the production process. This provides excellent valve seat machining quality. Heavy-duty base: base shifted to the rear for safe operation when the device is to be moved. Recessed feet allow for more comfortable device operation.
Lightweight Working Head.
SG8 MTS has a lightweight working head whose weight allows even small diameter pilots to very quickly and accurately center to the ultimate minimum coaxiality. At the same time, the prepared and locked head is ready for machining large diameter valve seats.
Variable Spindle Speed – from 40 to 400 revolutions per minute allows selecting the specific spindle speed required for different machining operations. Touch buttons and a bright digital display allow easy operation.
Electronic Level – Digital display for quick and accurate setting.
Depth Indicator – shows the operator exactly how much has been removed from the seat, ensuring the same seat position in all seats of the machined head. This measurement method is also useful for other head machining operations besides seat boring.
Adjustable Depth Stop.
Dual Speed Spindle Feed – Dual spindle feed speed adjustment, large knob provides fast feed, and small knob allows precise spindle feed control. This is very useful when cutting depths must be maintained at extreme levels of accuracy.
15 Degree Tilt – 15-degree spindle tilt, it tilts 15 degrees from vertical in both directions, providing quick setup of all inclined valve heads. Machines each seat to exactly the same depth, which is a necessity for modern computer-controlled engines.
Large Spindle Diameter – 3.150 inches (80 mm) provides rigidity without vibration during machining. External spindle support bearings are adjustable along the entire length of the bearing surface, their very precise execution provides decades of use.
Rottler Patented Tooling – SG Rottle, Changing different holders (cutting, reaming). The patented SG tool system completely eliminates tool clamping problems. The quick-change tool adapter in the spindle allows spherical different holders to be changed in seconds, changing the seat angle to another or reaming in just seconds! When the collar is lowered, the holder is vertical to allow the pilot to be inserted into the guide. Meanwhile, the raised collar releases the ball for precise centering and machining. One hand – quickly and easily moves the pilot with the holder from one guide to the next.
