PASS THRU SAE J2534
With the implementation of the European Union GVO Directive and the introduction of Euro 5 Standard, vehicle manufacturers are obliged to provide information, technical documentation, and electronic data to independent workshops.
A communication standard has been defined SAE J2534, also known as Pass Thru, which has been imposed on vehicle manufacturers by the European Union Directive.
It applies to vehicles starting from Euro 5 Standard, and often works with older vehicles.
To use the capabilities of Pass Thru, a PC-class computer with Windows software and a diagnostic interface compatible with the SAE J2534 protocol is required.
Each independent workshop must obtain diagnostic software and documentation on their own from the vehicle manufacturer. This is usually done by registering on the manufacturer's portal and gaining access by meeting the requirements specified by the brand.
Working with the Pass Thru standard allows you to:
- diagnose, program, and code vehicles using factory diagnostic software
- update the software of electronic control units installed in the vehicle
- access vehicle manufacturers' service and recall actions
- access factory technical documentation, electrical schematics, etc.
