The TEXA refrigerant identifier, based on NDIR (Non-Dispersive Infrared) technology, was born from nearly a decade of experience accumulated during the production of exhaust gas analysers, considered a leading product in this market segment due to its precision and quality. TEXA is the only European company and the second in the world to design and build a refrigerant identification system used in air conditioning service stations. For its implementation, TEXA utilised precise and reliable technology, filing three international patents (in addition to the eight already granted to the station itself). Particular attention was paid to the impact of the environment on the test result, such as oil vapours or exhaust gases that may be present in the workshop.
The design work lasted over a year, taking into account the special attention given to algorithms that allow the detection of the refrigerant type, R134a or R1234yf; the TEXA device not only detects these two gases but also guarantees the appropriate level of their purity. Furthermore, after the analysis is completed, the identifier does not release the sample of the analysed refrigerant into the atmosphere. Another advantage of the TEXA product is that it does not require the use of replaceable chemical filters. The entire operation takes about one minute, and in the case of an inappropriate or contaminated refrigerant, the system warns the operator and blocks the operation of the KONFORT station. This sophisticated yet robust system, which has received approval from German vehicle manufacturers, is standardly installed in the KONFORT 770S station and available as an option for models 760R and 780R, protecting the mechanic from dangerous counterfeit gas mixtures and the catastrophic consequences of mixing different types of refrigerants.
