Universal joints are used wherever access with conventional tools is impossible or very difficult. The operation of the joint is based on the use of a Cardan mechanism.

In the case of conventional tools, when unscrewing a bolt, its axis coincides with the axis of rotation of the tool. If such unscrewing is impossible, a universal joint should be used. It allows the wrench to operate at an angle to the axis of the bolt. This solution is extremely convenient and effective.
