Technical Parameters

PRAKTIK CHARGER 4 is an electronic charger for charging 6 and 12-volt lead-acid batteries:

• WET (liquid - lead-acid)
• GEL (gel)
• MF (maintenance-free)
• AGM (with fibreglass mat)
• EFB (for vehicles with Start-Stop system)

The charger features a microprocessor control system, ensuring automatic shutdown when the required voltage is reached on the battery and automatic resumption of charging when the battery voltage drops.

Each time the charger is turned on, it automatically sets the last remembered parameters (helpful for repeated use and in case of power supply interruptions).

Cold battery charging function: optimises charging at very low temperatures (low temperatures can adversely affect the chemical structure of battery components).

Charging Process

9-stage charging process ensures optimal charging conditions for the battery. The automatic control system adjusts each of the 9 charging stages for correct battery charging: 

• STAGE 1 - DIAGNOSTIC (Diagnostics) – analyses the battery and checks if it can accept charging current; prevents charging of a damaged battery.
• STAGE 2 - RECOVERY CHARGE (Pre-charge) – batteries with low voltage are pre-charged with a small current but increased voltage; very discharged batteries can be restored to usability, ensuring longer battery life, this stage is skipped if the battery is minimally discharged and in good condition.
• STAGE 3 - SOFT START (Soft start) - the charger gradually increases the charging current to reach the set charging current.
• STAGE 4 - PULSE CHARGE (Pulse charging) – the battery is charged with a pulsed current (pulse fluctuations occur within the DC current range).
• STAGE 5 - RECONDITIONING – preparatory stage for charging in the bulk charge stage.
• STAGE 6 - BULK CHARGE – charging with a constant current value to a previously set voltage (14.4÷14.7V).
• STAGE 7 - ABSORPTION CHARGE – after reaching the required battery charge level, it switches to constant voltage charging (CV) and the charging process ends.
• STAGE 8 - EVALUATION DIAGNOSTIC – automatic monitoring of battery voltage after charging is completed.
• STAGE 9 - MAINTENANCE CHARGE – maintenance stage for the battery (float) and monitoring its condition; resumes charging with reduced current if necessary.

Depending on the function selected, the LCD display indicates the operating status of the charger:

 

	Charging in 12V slow mode: 2A / 14.4V
	Charging in 12V fast mode: 4A / 14.4V
	Charging in winter mode: 4A / 14.7V Recommended for charging batteries at temperatures below 5°C.
	Charging in 6V mode: 2A / 7.2V

	Information: - about lack of clamp connection - about incorrect connection of polar clamps
