Bosch Solutions for Camera Calibration

ensure safe driving

A wide range of driver assistance systems is already available, facilitating driving on motorways and roads. These intelligent systems, equipped with radars and cameras, can recognise other road users in various situations, warn the driver of dangers in advance, or even act automatically if necessary. This is possible in some cases through communication and interaction of various components. This often allows accidents in urban traffic to be avoided or at least significantly mitigates their effects.

New technologies related to driver assistance systems pose particular demands on windscreen replacement services.

Bosch offers appropriate equipment for calibrating cameras during windscreen replacement.

Typical ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) systems that require camera calibration after windscreen replacement:

Lane Assist

These systems detect unintentional lane departure and warn the driver early, actively helping to keep the vehicle in the lane or change lanes.

Traffic Sign Recognition

The system recognises road signs and displays relevant information on the instrument cluster, which sends warnings to the driver if necessary.

Emergency Braking Assist

This system helps prevent collisions with other vehicles and unprotected road users. If an accident is unavoidable, the system at least reduces the vehicle's speed, thereby reducing the risk of

injuries.

Good to know: In the case of driver assistance systems, a distinction is made between dynamic calibration and static calibration. Static calibration requires a special calibration board and an appropriate diagnostic tool (e.g. KTS 350). In special cases, there may also be a combination of dynamic and static calibration procedures (e.g. in Honda, Mercedes-Benz, and Hyundai vehicles). Typically, static calibration is performed first, followed by dynamic calibration (calibration drive). The entire procedure is guided by the ESI[tronic] 2.0 program.
